Prof. Dr Gerhard Schaller is an MD and gynecologist/oncologist. After an academic career that included research at the Harvard Medical School, he most recenty headed the Institute of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Ruhr-University of Bochum, Germany, till 2005. His research has focused on the molecular biology of malignant tumors in the field of gynecology. For this work he received the Johann Georg Zimmermann prize.
